The Christmas Playlist
Here’s some modern takes on the Christmas story we love.
Rend Collective - 'The Saviour's Day'
Irish Christian Rock Band,
Rend Collective, take hipster to the next level in all they do. Here’s their latest offering for Christmas - “
The Saviours Day”. Where is Chris going with his tree?
Lauren Daigle - 'Light Of The World
Lauren Daigle, (America’s answer to Adele) has been bringing real strength through her voice to the the Christian message in recent years. This powerful song explains that Jesus is the “
Light of the World" - the one who shows us the way to God.
Rend Collective - Joy To The World (You Are My Joy)
Next we have another offering from
Rend Collective - Christmas is all about the joy of the fact that God became a man on a rescue mission to save mankind. That is the amazing thing - that God came to earth to save mankind! Tinsel and presents are great, but real joy is only found in knowing Jesus. Mind you, looking at the group, you see how they finally get their heads round this.
Casting Crowns - While You Were Sleeping
Does everybody recognise who Jesus is? Obviously not! But don’t
you miss the point. This great song by
Casting Crowns takes a look at those who miss out by misunderstanding why Jesus came. When he was born, many missed it - when he died, many didn’t recognise that he was God’s son. When he rose from the dead, things could never be the same again.
Casting Crowns is an American band and so the song has an American slant - but it’s just as relevant for everyone in the World today.
We The Kingdom - God So Loved
And lastly - not strictly a Christmas song - but it’s still the message of Christmas. 2021 Grammy nominees
We The Kingdom sing of probably the most famous verse in the Bible (John 3:16) - “For God loved the World so much, that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him should not die but live forever”. And that is the real message of Christmas!
The Elastic Band - Hallelujah!
Now for something a bit more traditional, from Avendale & Drumclog's very own The Elastic Band.
The Elastic Band - Here I Am To Worship
